Biography

Dr. Christian Mbarga, an avid traveller, has lived and/or studied in Douala, Yaoundé  (Cameroon), Bonn, Bielefeld, Radolfzell, Singen, Saarbrücken, Cologne, Berlin (Germany), Paris, Lyons, Washington (DC), Baltimore, Knoxville (TN), Montreal, Toronto, Sudbury (ON), and now calls Fredericton home.  

 

He started  by studying Translation at The Translation Institue of  Saarbrücken University before switching to Bielefeld University where he studied German as a Foreign Language, French, Education and Sociology for his undergraduate studies. He went on to study  German, French and Education for his Magister Artium (M.A.). His thesis dissertation focused on the implication of Anglicisms in German and their impact on Foreigners learning German in Germany. The written exam was based on his research thesis and on  the role of Vaugelas in codifying the French Language. The public defense examined and compared Intercultural education and the ways in which  it was approached in the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany, three countries with a significant number of  minority populations, many of them 2nd or third generation citizens.
  

He also holds a B.Ed. from Laurentian University, Sudbury, ON.

Dr. Christian Mbarga  has experience as a translator ( French/English/German) and speaks French, German, English, Beti, Bulu and has a fair knowledge of Portuguese and Pidgin-English, and a basic command  of Spanish and Dutch.
