Christian Mbarga is  Associate  Professor of French at St. Thomas University.  He completed  his Ph.D. in French Studies at The Johns Hopkins University under the supervision of  Dr Wilda Anderson (The Johns Hopkins University), and Dr. Jacques Neefs, (Université de Paris VIII, / The Johns Hopkins University) in Baltimore, USA. Dr. Christian Mbarga’s dissertation entitled  “Zola et ses femmes: Quelques figures féminines de pouvoir dans  les Rougon-Macquart d’Emile Zola” (“Selected female power figures in Emile Zola’s Rougon-Macquart”), focused on the role of female power figures in Emile Zola’s epic 20-volume Rougon-Macquart saga and their implications for both the literary and social circles in the Naturalist writer’s time. Dr. Christian Mbarga’s  book Emile Zola : les femmes de pouvoir dans les “Rougon-Macquart” was published by L’Harmattan in 2008 and he is  currently co-editing  a  second book provisionally entitled  Le Nouveau Monde : Terres d’exil, Terres d’accueil.
