“I want to congratulate James on his appointment, and on behalf of faculty, staff, students, and alumni, welcome him to STU,” said Dawn Russell, St. Thomas University’s President and Vice-Chancellor.

“Throughout the search process, James impressed the search committee with his financial and business acumen and management capabilities, as well as his operational experience,” she added. In addition to being responsible for the university’s financial management, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Facilities Management, and Athletics report to the Vice-President (Finance and Administration).

“I am looking forward to James joining our senior leadership group. Through his preparations for our interviews, he gained valuable knowledge about our financial challenges and opportunities, and prepared himself to contribute to our success. His expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and oversight, as well as his personal qualities will be valuable additions,” said Russell.

“I am pleased and excited to be joining the STU community. It is an exciting environment in which to work, with opportunity for growth and making a difference,” said Culligan.

“I am looking forward to working with a wide variety of individuals—board of governors, administration, faculty, staff, students—toward a common vision for the university and its future. I believe that my experience will serve the university well, bringing a strategic vision for financial security and growth.”
