Areas of Study
You can take courses in four areas of study:
- Music
- Musical Theatre (courses in acting, singing, and dancing)
- Film
- Visual Arts
Degree Options
What Majors and Minors can I earn in Fine Arts?
Upon approval, students may pursue the following:
- Interdisciplinary Minor with a concentration in Fine Arts (18 credit hours in any Fine Arts courses)
- Interdisciplinary Major with a concentration in Fine Arts (36 credit hours in any Fine Arts courses, 24 of which must be from upper-level courses)
- Minor in Music (18 credit hours in Music courses)
- Interdisciplinary Major with a concentration in Music (36 credit hours in Music courses, 24 of which must be from upper-level courses)
- Interdisciplinary Minor with a concentration in Visual Arts (18 credit hours in Visual Arts courses)
- Interdisciplinary Major with a concentration in Visual Arts (36 credit hours in Visual Arts courses, 24 of which must be from upper-level courses)
How do I get approval?
Students interested in exploring these options should consult with Professor Martín Kutnowski for Music, Musical Theatre and Film, or Professor Colleen Wolstenholme for Visual Arts. Then students will complete a standard application to the Interdisciplinary Studies Committee.
Can students outside the Fine Arts Department take Fine Arts courses?
Yes. Fine Arts courses can be applied to the Bachelor of Arts degree as electives.
