Dean of Social Sciences

Reporting to the Vice-President (Academic and Research), the Dean of Social Sciences is a senior member of the University’s academic administration and is directly responsible for the recruitment, professional development, and retention of University faculty members in:

  • Anthropology
  • Criminology
  • Economics
  • Environment and Society
  • Gerontology
  • Political Science
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • Math and Science and Technology Studies
  • Women’s Studies and Gender Studies
  • School of Social Work

In some instances, the Dean of Social Sciences serves as the designate to the Vice-President (Academic and Research). The Dean of Social Sciences works collaboratively with the Vice-President (Academic and Research), the Assistant Vice-President (Research), the Dean of Humanities, and the Director of Human Resources.

The Dean of Social Sciences is also responsible for providing academic and administrative leadership to the Faculty of Social Sciences in collegial collaboration with full and part-time faculty, students and staff of the University.
