STU is hosting Career Week from February 9-13, featuring events, workshops, and a career fair to help STUdents build their professional network and prepare for the start of their careers.

 

Certificate of Career Week Attendance

 

Do you plan to attend some of our Career Week events? If you do, you could gain a certificate and even win prizes! Here’s what you need to do:

  • Pick up a preparation package in GMH 302 on Monday, Feb. 9, between 9 am and 12 pm. This will have all the materials you need for the week.

  • Attend the Career in Public Service Panel and Networking event. (Snacks and prizes included!)

  • Complete the Career Fair BINGO card.

  • Attend one other Career Week event or information session

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 9

Career Fair Prep Package Drop-in
GMH 302 @ 9:00 AM-12:00 PM

Stop by the Experiential Learning and Career Development Office to pick up a package of tools for Career Week. It includes networking tips, sample questions for employers, a career fair map, and a special BINGO card to complete tasks and win a prize! Everything you need to prepare for the events!

 

A Career in Public Service Panel Discussion and Networking Event

Learn about career journeys and reflections on finding that first job, especially in a challenging environment. Consider the reasons for choosing public service and what it can offer in terms of meaningful work and personal fulfillment. Each of these aspects can provide valuable insights into navigating the job market and making informed career choices. This event will offer a chance to network with experts in their field and ask any questions you may have about the world of work.

 

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 10

Career Fair

Join the Experiential Learning and Career Development Office for our annual Career Fair! Meet employers who are hiring for the summer as well as looking for upcoming graduates to work full time. This is a great networking opportunity and a useful way to find out what employers are looking for in their particular industry. Bring your resume and any questions you might have, plus drop by our table to find out how you can win prizes and earn a certificate for participation in Career Week events!

 

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 11

School of Education Info Session
GMH 205 @ 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM

Are you interested in becoming a teacher or pursuing a career related to education? Thinking about applying to STU’s Bachelor of Education Program? This information session will give you insight into what the program is like, the kinds of courses and projects you will complete, expectations for a teaching internship, and much more! This session will be hosted by current BEd students who will provide a look at their first-hand experience, as well as answer any questions you may have.

Workshop #1 – Landing the Job with Transferable Skills

Transferable skills are the key to thriving in any career, whether you’re just starting or aiming to grow in your current role. In this workshop, you’ll learn what transferable skills are, why they matter, and how to identify and strengthen the ones you already have. Walk away with practical tips to showcase these skills on your resume, in interviews, and on the job.

 

Wellness Break #1 – Zumba

Having fun at our Career Week events? We are glad you've joined us so far, but we also want you to take time for yourself! Join us in the gym for an hour of fun exercise! Zumba is a mix of cardio and dance moves designed for those who have never danced a day in their lives to those who are masters at busting a move! Let's make positive wellness memories together.

Workshop #2 – Interview Simulation Workshop

Prepare to ace your next interview! This interactive workshop is designed for students who want to build confidence and sharpen their interview skills through hands-on practice. Participants will take part in an interview simulation that mirrors real-world recruitment scenarios, allowing them to experience what employers look for and how interviews typically unfold.

 

Wellness Break #2 – Therapy Dogs
