Thursday, August 30th, 11 AM–4 PM Upper Campus, Forest Hill
The beginning of a great adventure for STUdents - Move-In Day!
Yes, it is that time already! Incoming students will have the opportunity to meet some Residence Advisors, Residence Coordinators, House Committee members and Welcome Week Leaders as they move into their new home for the year. Lawn games will also be happening in the Lower Courtyard in front of George Martin Hall from 1 PM-4 PM so make sure to stop by!

Thursday, August 30th, 2:30 PM - Lower Courtyard (Front of George Martin Hall)
Team Selection
Join us in the Lower Courtyard in front of George Martin Hall to join one of our campus-wide Welcome Week Teams. These teams will have ongoing events throughout the week and will give you the opportunity to meet some peers from all over campus! Be sure to come visit us and pick up your Student Card, Welcome Week Kit and bracelet! Your student card acts as a bus pass and meal card, your bracelet is what lets you into all the events throughout the week and your kit contains some amazing swag and some essential gear for your first week of university! We can also answer any of your questions and we will have spirited volunteers all around campus ready to assist you.
You do not want to miss out on this!

Thursday, August 30th, 2:30 PM – Kinsella Lobby (McCain Hall)
Parents Welcome
Parents are invited to join faculty and staff in a welcome ceremony. Parents will receive a welcoming address from the Associate Vice President, Enrolment Management, Scott Duguay, as well as tips and tricks to help their students with the transition into university. Refreshments will be provided.

Thursday, August 30th, 8 PM–10 PM - Lower Courtyard
Cheer-Off
A popular Welcome Week tradition, the Cheer-Off is an opportunity for first-year students to show their newly adopted pride for their residence and Off Campus communities. STU’s newest students will gather together, sporting house/off-campus colours and screaming cheers, all in hopes of claiming the title of the loudest and proudest group on campus.

Friday, August 31st, 1 PM–4 PM – Gather in the Lower Courtyard
Operation: Ignition
We are bringing back yet another Welcome Week classic with Operation: Ignition. This event is comprised of motivational talk, icebreakers, and team building activities. Get to know and start building connections with your fellow STUdents in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.

Friday, August 31st, 6 PM-8 PM – Gather in the Lower Courtyard
Campus Scavenger Hunt
Worried about finding your way around campus? There is no better way to familiarize yourself with the different offices, buildings and opportunities offered on campus than through a scavenger hunt with you Welcome Week Team. Not only will you become an expert at finding your way around, but winners also get ultimate bragging rights!

Here Come’s the Sun- Sunrise Ceremony
There is no better way to start the day! Join us bright and early for a sunrise ceremony by the Saint John river and to start your day on the right foot. Details TBD.

Saturday, September 1st - 10 AM-4:30 PM - Gather in the Lower Courtyard
Shine Day
Students will hit the streets of Fredericton to flip burgers, sing songs and wash cars – whatever they can do to attract attention and raise money for St. Thomas’ annual Shinerama campaign. Students will be given the opportunity to raise money for a great cause, meet classmates, and become familiar with the Fredericton community! Let’s get out and raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Canada!

Sunday, September 2nd, 12:30 pm-4:30 pm - Gather in Lower Courtyard
Downtown Exploration
Get geared up and ready to test your skills and abilities while exploring downtown Fredericton! This event will introduce students to the downtown core and its many landmarks to make sure they have the skills to help them make the most of their years at STU! This is one event you definitely won’t want to miss!

Sunday, September 2nd, 6:30 PM-10:30 PM - Rigby Ballrooms
Casino Night
You will never find a more awesome hive of fun and foolery. Enjoy some mocktails in the Rigby Ballroom while you face off against your friends in a variety of casino games. At the end of the night, a prize auction will be held, during which students can use the monopoly money they’ve won to bid on prizes.

Student Life 101
Our team is here to help you navigate university life! This event will offer sessions on career development, mental health, and time management to ensure that your transition into university life is as easy as possible. You will also get the chance to meet some of our best student leaders who will provide you with advice from their first-year self. You won’t want to miss this!

Monday, September 3rd, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM – Forest Hill
Paint Fight
Come shake all of the nerves off with us at our annual paint fight! One of our most successful events every year, the paint fight brings out our students’ competitive edge in the spirit of plain good fun. The battle doesn’t end until all of the paint is gone so come join us!

Monday, September 3th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM - Kinsella Auditorium
Comedy Night with James Mullinger
Acclaimed British comedian, James Mullinger, moved to Canada in 2014 and ever since has been delighting audiences with his poignant insights into Maritime quirks. Students from near and far will be entertained by Mullinger’s witty style and pertinent jokes as they finish off the second day of their Welcome Week experience.

Tuesday, September 4th, 8:45 AM–12:30 PM – Kinsella Auditorium
Academic Orientation Day
Academic Orientation Day occurs the day before classes begin and provides incoming students with the chance to experience a university classroom setting, meet faculty, and chat with upper-year students. Students will also have the opportunity to take part in a spirit fair and lawn games at lunch time.

Tuesday, September 4th, 1PM–2:30 PM – Rigby Ballrooms
STU Commencement Ceremony
The Commencement Ceremony is STU’s official welcome to new students joining the university community. The ceremony marks the beginning of the students’ university years. Each student will receive a T-Pin – the “T” is the symbol all St. Thomas students identify with while they are attending STU and long after they graduate.

Time to Shine Talent Show
The Time to Shine Talent Show allows first year students to showcase their talent in a friendly competition with both a joke and serious category. This event will be an extension of Shine Day where Shinerama participants will be thanked for all their hard work. Our grand total of fundraising will also be announced!

Wednesday, September 5th, 4:30 PM–6:30 PM –Lower Courtyard
Celebration of Culture
Join us the Lower Courtyard to talk about Indigenous culture, dance and Powwow etiquette. This is a great learning opportunity for all students where you will even be given the chance to take part in a few social dances.

Wednesday, September 5th, 7:30 PM–9:30 PM – Fredericton Playhouse
Hypnotist Cyrus at The Fredericton Playhouse
STUdents are invited to see the legendary professional Hypnotist Cyrus perform at the Fredericton Playhouse for FREE! This will be a one of a kind show that students’ won’t want to skip! The Fredericton Playhouse is a cultural staple in the downtown community, which hosts hundreds of amazing musical and theatrical performances all year long!

Thursday, September 6th, 5:30 PM–7:30 PM – Meet in Lower Courtyard
Freddy Beach BBQ
Each year the City of Fredericton hosts a welcome back BBQ for the students of St. Thomas University, University of New Brunswick, New Brunswick Community College and others. There will be live performances and free food. Join your fellow classmates in this exciting downtown event where dignitaries from the city and post-secondary institutions will welcome you to Fredericton!

Thursday, September 6th, 7:30 PM–11 PM
FREX
Students will head over to the Fredericton Exhibition; a wildly popular Fredericton tradition! Students’ Welcome Week bracelet will provide them with FREE entrance into the FREX, where they will have the opportunity to play games, catch death defying acts, and much more! Busses will be running throughout the night to bring students back to campus.

Friday, September 7th, 2 PM - 6:00 PM- Students’ Union Building
Powwow
Join UNB, NBCC and STU students as they head down to the UNB Quad to take part in a Powwow. This will give students the opportunity to learn more about the culture and meet new peers from all three campuses!

Friday, September 7th, 4:30 PM- 6 PM- Students’ Union Building
Dorm Burn
The Fredericton Fire Department, UNB, NBCC and STU have all paired up to teach students about fire safety in residence. Join us in the UNB Quad by the Students’ Union Building to learn more about what you should to keep your residence/apartment safe and to watch an impressive demonstration teaching you the ins and outs of fire safety. Join us for a night of movie watching under the stars. This event is the perfect way to relax as we head into our last day of events, and our team will have snacks at your disposal- need we say more? Movie and location are TBD.

STU Cares: Day of Action
Join us for this special one-day event that connects new STU students with volunteer opportunities in Fredericton. Students will be paired up with local organizations all over Fredericton. See your classroom learning come alive!

Music FeSTUval Social
The grand finale of your first week at STU is the legendary STU Social! Throughout the night there will be contests and prizes, as well as great music! Arrive in style dressed with your best music festival attire and get ready for some dancing!
