Catherine Gidney

ADJUNCT RESEARCH PROFESSOR, HISTORY
Catherine Gidney is an Adjunct Research Professor of History at St. Thomas University. Her research focuses primarily on the history of education and youth culture in Canada, covering a range of topics such as health, religion, food, student protest, sport, sexuality, the 1960s, and commercialism. She is currently writing a book examining the history of mindfulness.
She has served on a variety of professional and scholarly organizations including the Canadian Historical Association, the Canadian Committee on Women’s History and the O’Brien Foundation. A former President of the Canadian History of Education Association, in 2016 she was elected to the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists.
