Join us in a gathering of reflection, remembrance, and commitment as we commemorate Truth and Reconciliation on Friday, September 29.

 

Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

 

This event holds special significance as we come together to acknowledge the historical injustices faced by Indigenous communities. During the commemoration, we will reflect on the experiences of Indigenous peoples and their resiliency and discuss the steps we can take collectively to promote understanding, unity, and reconciliation.

Information Posters on Campus
To mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on campus, information posters, created by School of Education students, will be displayed on easels around campus. The posters present an opportunity to learn about the day and the significance of wearing an Orange Shirt. Spread the message about what Orange Shirt Day means to you by sharing photos of the posters you see around campus on social media — tag @STU_Reconciliation on Instagram.

  • 1 Easel located at JDH entrance near the Dawn Russell Lounge

  • 1 Easel is located in the main/first-floor foyer of GMH 

  • 2 Easels in MMH (the first is at the first-floor entrance, the second is at the entrance of the study hall)

  • 2 Easels in BMH (one in the ground-floor entrance, the other in the first-floor entrance)

  • 1 Easel in HCH in the main entrance
