The Promise of Home team invites you to join us for Bridging in Diversity, a two-day community event at St. Thomas University, featuring panels, workshops, a plenary talk, and a reception.

Everyone is welcome! Drop in anytime and stay for any section.

"This event is the culmination of six years of work in our community, looking at belonging among newcomers. We are proud of the work that we have done." - Dr. Sophie Lavoie, University of New Brunswick.

Promise of Home is a community-based research project exploring newcomers' experiences of belonging in Fredericton. Now, in its fourth and final phase, the stories and community feedback gathered throughout the project have been used to develop policy recommendations.

"Improving immigrant retention in New Brunswick depends on our ability to build inclusive communities where newcomers can genuinely belong. As arrivals decline, this work becomes even more urgent. Our project provides grassroots insights and recommendations to help guide that effort."- Dr. Gül Çalışkan, St. Thomas University.

The Conference will launch and explore key recommendations developed through our research. Community-led recommendations are grounded in a human rights-based analytical approach that places issues of discrimination and exclusion at the forefront. The conference will have a strong anti-racist focus. One of the project’s core pillars is anti-racism and anti-discrimination awareness, alongside community education.

Register on our Eventbrite. The events are FREE.
