Chapel's Altar Cross

The Chapel's Altar Cross belonged originally to the Congregation of the Holy Cross, who built Holy Cross House to serve as a residence and minor seminary. The Holy Cross Fathers formed a significant part of the university's teaching faculty in the 1960s and 70s.

The cross interlocked with two anchors (ancient symbols of hope) represents the motto of the Congregation: Ave Crux, Spes Unica -- "Hail the Cross, Our Only Hope."

The Altar Cross was a gift from the Holy Cross Fathers to St. Thomas University.
