Dr. Ian Fraser is known as a mentor for students and teachers.

Always concerned with pedagogy and making subjects interesting for the sound-byte generation, he has attended countless lectures on effective teaching and published well-received scholarly articles on the topic. His dedication to his students has earned him countless nominations for teaching awards.

Equally felt in the St. Thomas community is his care for new professors and the remarkable guidance he extends to these teachers. In the words of one professor, “He has helped us all become better teachers.” Over the course of two decades, he spent two terms as chair of Psychology Department and, during that time, he implemented two complete curriculum overhauls in response to external reviews.
