Why should you join the Residence Life team?

The Residence Life team is an inclusive, diverse, and dynamic group that will encourage growth, teamwork, and leadership. We emphasize balanced development and healthy wellbeing of all our team members. It is a great opportunity to develop meaningful connections with teammates and people you meet along the way. It is also unique experience where you will get to apply and learn various workplace skills while being on the job.

What skills will you get to apply and further develop?

As a member of the Residence Life team, you will be given continuous opportunities to learn and develop skills. Structured training prior to the role and throughout the year is provided for topics such as leadership, role modelling, effective communication, sexual violence prevention education and bystander intervention. Through ongoing interactions with students and fellow team members, RAs, and RCs develop their intrapersonal skills invaluable to future professional opportunities.

What are Residence Advisors?

Residence Advisors (RA) are leaders in their residence community. Each RA is responsible for a wing or floor in their building. RAs are expected to get to know their communities, run educational events, support students’ wellbeing, and ensure safety of all students. In collaboration with their house time and guidance from their Residence Coordinator and Residence Supervisors, RAs work as a team to foster a safe, inclusive, and connected living environment for all students living in residence.
