International Education Week 2021

International Education Week will take place on campus from Monday, November 15 to Monday, November 22, 2021. See below for a full schedule of events and mark your calendar to join in on this fun and educational week of celebration.  

Monday, November 15  

Winter Warm up - 11:00 am- 4:00 pm, Sir James Dunn Hall Cafeteria
Winter is on its way. Are you ready? For some international students this might be their first winter experience. The STU community has generously donated many gently used winter coats, accessories, and clothing items for the taking. Whether this is your first winter in Canada or your 20th, this is your opportunity to add to your winter wardrobe ensuring you have everything you need to stay warm and cozy this winter season.

 
STUISA- Create your Own State, 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm, Zoom 
Join STUISA in a fun educational virtual event where you, with a group of peers, get to create your own country. Including your own flag, language, climate, tourist attractions and more. You will have the opportunity to showcase your country and vote for your favorite. May the best country win!

Tuesday, November 16 

Virtual International Exchange Information Session - 1:00pm, Zoom  
Applicaiton for the Fall 2022, St. Thomas University’s International Exchange Program is open. Learn how you could experience a different language, culture, and education system while earning academic credit.

Wednesday, November 17 

International Round-table: An Open Dialogue - 4:00 pm, Ted Daigle Auditorium 
This panel discussion will highlight international student life on campus and educate the community on challenges and concerns facing international students. This panel will also be open to questions. 

Thursday, November 18 

International Experiential Learning Opportunities - 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, Sir James Dunn Hall Cafeteria 
Stop by STU Experiential Learning's information booth in JDH to learn about international internships and volunteering opportunities. We are excited to launch the International Experiential Learning Program in 2022, and would like to share preliminary information and gather interest from students. 
 
Virtual 2021 International Wall of Flags Ceremony - 2:30 pm 
Every year, the STU International Wall of Flags, located in the hub of campus in Sir James Dunn Hall, is updated so that every country represented by students on campus is displayed. Join us for the unveiling of this year's updated Wall of Flags. Register now 

 

Venezuela 180 Workshop - The Value of Volunteering - 5:30 pm, Sir James Dunn Hall, Room G1
Venezuela 180 and the STU club by the same name are working together in bringing an educational opportunity for our student volunteers as well as for the broader student community surrounding the topic of entrepreneurship in the non-profit sector. This workshop will be facilitated by Clara Santacruz, Manager of the Office of Experiential and Community Based Learning.

STUISA- Two Truths and a Lie - 4:30 pm, Zoom

You will be able to test your knowledge of the world and powers of deduction in this fun online event where you will be presented with three facts, two of which are true and one of which is a lie. Can you tell which is the lie?

To close out International Education Week, join game show hosts extraordinaire, Cari and Andrea for some International Trivia and Bingo. There will be giveaways! STUISA will be accepting donations for their International Student Bursary fund.
